Solidity of Life
August 15, 2012

Inspiration for the glorious, two bedroom apartment that I will never have, with hardwood floors, painted kitchen cabinets, and a second floor deck. The rooms would be blue and green, with furniture in shades of gray, touches of gold, and accent pops in coral and pink.
This romantic, open, classic place can be mine, should I choose to live in rural Indiana. Alas, for the same monthly rent in a coastal city, I’ll get a bed, three roommates, and probably one of those old pastel toilets.
“Compromise, if not the spice of life, is its solidity. It is what makes nations great and marriages happy.” -Phyllis McGinley
